Aspirin use lowers risk of common GI cancers

Taking aspirin contributes to a reduced risk of several gastrointestinal (GI) malignancies, such as colorectal cancer (CRC), liver cancer, stomach cancer, and pancreatic cancer, as shown by the results of a 20-year study presented at ASCO GI 2025. However, no association is seen with most non-GI cancers.

Experts have proposed a subtle approach to diagnosing obesity that shifts the focus from BMI alone. Instead, they urged using other body fat measures such as waist circumference or direct fat mass measurement and signs and symptoms of ill health to confirm excess body fat.
