Dyspepsia refers to pain or discomfort centered in the upper abdomen.
Patients may have any one of the following: Disturbing postprandial fullness, early satiation, epigastric pain and/or burning felt predominantly in the upper abdomen.
A detailed medical, social (eg smoking and alcohol intake) and family history reduces the differential diagnoses.
Acid suppression, given for 4-8 weeks, is the recommended initial therapy.
For further information regarding the management of Dyspepsia, please refer to Disease Algorithm for the Treatment Guideline.
