Keloids and hypertrophic scars patches of fibrous tissue that replaces the normal skin tissue after wounds, trauma, burns, surgical incision or disease. 
 While hypertrophic scars are raised fibrous tissue scars that remains within the boundaries of the wound, keloids are elevated fibrous scars that extend beyond the borders of the original wound.
Silicone therapy is the gold standard in scar management and first-line non-invasive treatment option for hypertrophic scars and minor keloids.
